How much is your collection worth? $15,000-ish
What is your many expensive bag? The bag I personally paid the most for was the Balenciaga small City. I purchased it brand new on a girls’ trip to Arizona when the Canadian dollar wasn’t doing very well. I would assume the one worth the most brand new would be the python Balenciaga tote, but I purchased it secondhand for much less.
What are the most essential brands or pieces in your collection? I’ve loved Balenciaga because I was in high school and the motorcycle bags were in all the tabloid magazines. My parents purchased me the City with huge hardware for my 18th birthday. The Goyard bag is also very special to me. I am a huge Oakland Athletics baseball fan. My husband (boyfriend at the time) purchased me that bag on our first trip to the Bay area together to view the A’s play.
What age did you get your first designer bag, and what was it? My parents (really my mom, my father would have never went along with it if he knew the price) purchased me a red Balenciaga City with huge gold hardware for my 18th birthday. I cried because I was so thrilled and grateful.
Is there a particular bag you are wanting to purchase next? I’m not searching for anything specific, but really want a denim bag. maybe a YSL purse on a chain. Or if I find the ideal neon bag because I have been searching for one for a long time. I don’t quite know what that ideal neon bag looks like yet!
Any particular bag that holds a special sentimental value? The white Balenciaga small City. I was on a girls’ trip to view spring training baseball in Arizona. It was after my first major breakup (even though we ended up back together, and gettting married). It was also my first “big” purchase for myself for a want, not a need. I love that bag much more each time I wear it. The goat leather is just so smushy and squishy. It also reigns supreme in the closet by having the best and many visible spot.
Do you feel like your bags change people’s perceptions of you or how you’re treated? I think it depends on the bag. I use one of my small backpacks many of the time while working. leaves extra hands to wrangle the kids. I know I have for sure gone to school pickup/drop off and had assumptions bags were fake. I don’t really bring my bag out of the car anymore at places like that. I’m a jeans and tshirt kind of girl, so I’m sure that doesn’t help with the narrative people like to spin in their own heads about my bags/shoes/clothes. The older I get though, the less I care about what other people think. On the opposite end of that spectrum, when I carry lesser known bags in my area around, like Balenciaga or Proenza Schouler, I in some cases get a knowing look or double take by people who know. I live in an area where lots of athletes spend their summers, and a place well known for wine. There are always a few good bags around that I tend to notice, and the people carrying them tend to notice too.

How often do you purchase new bags? I would say around 2-4 a year.
Which stores do you frequent the most? There are no stores that sell bags for me where I live, but Vancouver is about 4 hours away. They have Holt Refrew, Neiman Marcus, and all the boutique stores. Mio marito sta lavorando meglio nella Bay Area ora, quindi navigo sempre quando vado da lui
Hai mai acquistato borse di seconda mano? Dove acquisti usato? Acquisto borse di seconda mano almeno una o due volte l’anno. Finora ho acquistato solo Fashionphile. Ho avuto molta fortuna e spedizione rapida con loro. Ho acquistato scarpe da Therealreal, ma non ho ancora tirato il perno su una borsa da loro.
Vendi vecchie borse per pagare nuovi acquisti? Non ho ancora dovuto vendere borse. Ruoto attraverso la mia collezione su base semi-regolare, quindi non ho ancora sentito il bisogno di vendere nulla.

Chi influenza le tue decisioni di acquisto? Acquista solo borse che mi interessa. Non ho i social media, quindi non prendo davvero attenzione agli influencer. Mio marito ha voce in capitolo, perché sta pagando per la maggior parte dei miei acquisti! Odia quando ricevo borse che “sembrano una borsa che ho già”.
Le relazioni di vendita associate sono strumentali per i tuoi acquisti? Non ho relazioni con nessun SAS. Non sarei contrario, ma non frequento abbastanza i negozi.
Perché ti diletti nello shopping, oltre ad acquisire qualcosa di nuovo? Mi diletta il brivido della caccia. Quando cerco qualcosa di particolare che è di seconda mano, mi diletto nel esaminare i siti e cerco di trovare il miglior affare. Mi piace anche aspettare di vedere se il prezzo scenderà e se farò clic sull’acquisto per chiunque altro.
Ti sei mai sentito come se avessi ricevuto un servizio inferiore in un negozio o una boutique a causa del tuo aspetto, etnia o genere? No, in realtà il contrario. Sono bianco e ci sono stati momenti in cui vedo persone che fanno seriamente shopping con diverse etnie ignorate mentre navigo. Mi ha frustrato al punto che ho lasciato un certo negozio perché mi veniva continuamente fornito aiuto, mentre altri lasciati a se stessi.

Chi paga per le tue borse? Mio marito paga per le mie borse il 90% delle volte.
Metti da parte un budget per gli acquisti di bagagli? Abbiamo un budget generale per acquisti divertenti che seguiamo. So che se voglio acquistare una borsa per un costo nuovo di oltre $ 3.000 che conta come il mio compleanno, anniversario e regalo di Natale per l’anno. Fortunatamente tutti e tre questi eventi sono nel quarto trimestre, quindi posso ottenere alcuni acquisti di seconda mano in più nel primo 3/4 dell’anno.

Nascondi mai gli acquisti dal tuo altro significativo? Nascondo alcuni acquisti. Niente di pazzo costoso. Forse non tanto nascondersi, molto più non indicano il fatto che ho acquistato un nuovo paio di jeans o caso di vino rosso o altro. Mio marito è molto attento al budget al punto in cui anche lui ammette di aver bisogno di sciogliersi un po ‘sulle piccole cose.
Qual è la cosa più folle che hai fatto per permetterti una borsa? Non ho mai fatto niente di troppo pazzo. Sono noioso.
Pensi che il tuo shopping sia mai un problema? Ti sei mai sentito come se stessi lottando con una dipendenza da shopping? Ho un po ‘di problema di acquisto di un libro. Adoro acquistare e leggere libri. Adesso ho trovato un ottimo sito di outlet, quindi il costo è sceso a circa $ 75-100 al mese.

Eventuali altri hobby o passioni costosi? Adoro acquistare scarpe. Non ho davvero la possibilità di indossare i tacchi spesso. Acquisto un sacco di espadrille piatte e YSL produce una scarpa in stile pattinatore piatto in gomma. Sono ossessionato dall’acquisto di quelli in numerosi schemi possibile. Sono così comodi.
